Help & FAQ’s

At Stone & Earth, we understand that you may have numerous questions before choosing the right worktop or tile and that’s why we’ve put together some helpful answers to the questions our customers ask.  If there is a burning question that you’d like to know the answer to, we’d love to hear from you.
Where is Stone & Earth?

A: The Stone & Earth team have produced a helpful guide for choosing the right worktop for you and you home.

Q: How do I keep my worktops looking clean and new?
Your granite worktop should ideally be re-sealed once every 12 months. Here at Stone & Earth, we have made this process extremely simple. Just contact a member of our team and request our Maintenance Service Scheme. This service includes a visit at a convenient day and time to complete a full professional refresh of your stone. This includes re-sealing as well as re-freshening any silicone sealed areas covering the maintenance of up to two resin joints.  Our Maintenance Service Scheme amounts to a one-off call-out fee of £285.00 plus VAT. Included in this service you will receive a complimentary 660ml Stone & Earth Solid Surface Cleaner, which retails at £13.50.
Q: Where can I get a sample of the stone?
A: Our extensive range of stones are on display at our showroom where samples can be viewed in a range of sizes, giving you the chance to view your chosen stone in more detail. If you are unable to visit our showroom, please get in touch with a member of the team at Stone & Earth and arrangements can be made to send a sample to you.
Q: What do I need to do before the template is drawn?
A: You will need to ensure all your units are in place, including any end panels. Undermount sinks (where fitted) will need to be secured in place and work surface appliances such as taps, hobs and any worktop extractions must be on site.
Q: How does the process work and how long does the process take?
A: The process is quite simple, and the time is takes is dependent on the customer availability as well as stone availability. Once you have received your quotation and we receive your authorisation (by means of a signed order) the entire process can normally be completed within a 14-22 working day period.

A typical breakdown of the process is as follows:

  1. Customer Quotation – Once you have advised a member of our Sales Team of your bespoke requirements, we provide you with your quotation the same day.
  2. Template Date – Our Sales Team will arrange at date for a member of our Installation Team to visit your address and begin the template. This will be within 7-10 working days from your order being accepted. This date may be longer than 10 days if the customer requires a more convenient date.
  3. Date of fitting – When the order has been accepted, a date for fitting will be arranged with the customer and can be within 7-12 workings days from the date of the template being completed depending on availability of the customer.

The entire process from initial contact to completion of your kitchen can be achieved by Stone & Earth between 14-22 working days.

Q: Do you fabricate on site or is it out sourced?
A: Stone & Earth fabricate the stone on site in our state of the art production facility by our highly skilled production team – should any customer wish to come to the showroom to view the process please contact a member of the team to make arrangements.

Factory Tours can be made by appointment, where customers can visit and see their chosen stone being fabricated. You can also observe the process taking place on our monitor within the showroom at Stone & Earth to understand the intricate process that takes place.

Q: Does the work and product come with a guarantee?
A: Please speak to a member of our team who will be happy to advise you on the warranty specific to your purchased stone.
Q: How are the payments organised?
A: For customers who don’t have an account with Stone & Earth the payment procedure is as follows :-

  • 50% deposit is required upfront when the order is accepted, which allows our Sales Team to reserve your chosen stone
  • The final 50% balance is due prior to the fitting of your bespoke stone.
Q: Does Stone & Earth offer a price match?
A: Yes – should you have a quotation no older than 30 days, please come and visit Stone & Earth where we will be happy to provide a like-for-like quotation.
Q: What is the difference between Quartz and Granite?
A: Quartz is a manufactured product constructed from natural stone. Essentially quartz is crushed stone mixed with resin and is stronger than granite and allows larger overhangs.  Quartz is not as heat resistant as granite.

Granite is a natural stone quarried from the earth as a natural product. This is why the colour and pattern may differ between slabs.

Q: Is it true that Granite is more expensive?
A: In some cases this is correct, however, this is not always the case. For further details on specific costs please contact a member of our Sales Team.
Q: Does Stone & Earth cover all areas of the United Kingdom?
A: Yes, we supply anywhere in mainland UK. We have even supplied to customers further afield, for example, most recently a customer in Guernsey, so please come in and speak to a member of our Team should you have any queries whatsoever about location.
